Rix Petroleum, proud to be supporting Yorkshire Ai

Ever wanted to take a helicopter flight with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance?

Those visiting this year’s Driffield Agricultural Show will be able to experience the next best thing.

Leading family fuel company Rix Petroleum will be offering virtual helicopter flights of the area on their exhibition stand, using VR headsets.

Visitors will be welcome to come along and try the headsets out, to find out what it feels like to fly with the air ambulance crew.

Duncan Lambert, Managing Director of Rix Petroleum, said the show would mark a tie up that will see the company raise money for the charity.

As well as having the virtual flights, YAA’s helivan will also be on display, enabling visitors to find out more about how the charity works.

Mr Lambert said: “The Yorkshire Air Ambulance does a fantastic job of helping people injured in remote areas get the emergency medical treatment they need.

“We have worked with the region’s farmers for more than a century and we know that often, farming involves lone workers working in areas of the countryside that are difficult to get to.

“In these circumstances, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance can be the difference between life and death. They do a fantastic job for the region’s farmers and anyone who gets injured off the beaten track.”

Over the past five years, Rix Petroleum has raised nearly £35,000 for local charities including Macmillan Cancer Support East Yorkshire, Cancer Research UK and Dove House Hospice, with Driffield Agricultural Show playing a large part in generating this.

But the business supports other worth organisations too, so will also feature Bridlington Young Farmers Club on its exhibition stand.

Bridlington Young Farmers is one of four young farmers clubs Rix Petroleum supports across the UK.

The company provides branded clothing to the clubs, as well as help and advice on advertising and promotions and helps with some of the costs of putting on events.

Mr Lambert said supporting the young farmers group was their way of putting back into a community that had supported the business over many years.

He said: “The support we have had from East Yorkshire’s farming community has enabled Rix Petroleum to grow and be successful. By supporting Bridlington Young Farmers and other young farmers groups, we’re helping the next generation learn the skills they need to carry the industry forward and be successful too.”
