Aylmerton resident Stuart Brittain has a spring in his step this Easter thanks to Rix Petroleum Ltd and the East Anglian Daily Times.
Mr Brittain took delivery of 500 litres of heating oil worth around £300 this month from our local depot based in Attleborough, having won a competition run we ran through the newspaper.
The prize was delivered to Mr Brittain ahead of Easter, so he’ll not have to worry about the spring frosts or ensuring his woodland home on the Norfolk coast is cosy through the coming months.
“As a pensioner, receiving this free fuel is great. It certainly helps with budgeting,” he said. “We have our own woodlands and live only a mile from the Norfolk coast, so we like to get out and take walks. Coming home to a warm house always makes a difference. My wife and I have plans to stay at home this Easter, for a nice relaxing weekend.”
With a keen eye for spotting competitions in his local news, Mr Brittain had been impressed by the value of the prize on offer from Rix. He did not delay in getting his entry in, but when he received the call, he was left in disbelief.
He said: “I bet everyone who wins a competition will say they never expected it, but somebody has got to win! I don’t go out of my way to enter, but I always keep an eye out for them in my local paper. This one had a particularly good value prize, especially for a regional newspaper.”
Jon Dench, manager of our Rix Petroleum East Anglia depot, congratulated Mr Brittain on his win.
He said: “We like to like to share some Easter good will by giving people the opportunity to win 500 litres of fuel, delivered free to their door. After all, it’s a good feeling to know you are fully prepared for all the British weather can throw at you.
“It was a great pleasure to deliver to Mr Brittain and I’m delighted he was the lucky and deserving winner. I am glad it is of help to him and his family.”
