Thieves steal 800 litres of Parsh Church's heating oil

It is a sad day when even a Church isn't safe from a thief.

The Times newspaper recently published a story where a Church in Northumbria had 800 litres of heating oil stolen, worth around £600.

As the cold weather continues to stay people are becoming desperate and therefore heating oil theft has seen a dramatic rise recently.

Our advice is simple, ensure your tank is well protected; use a pad lock and security lighting as an additional deterrent. It is also worth positioning your heating oil tank where it isn't visible from the road or from Google Earth / Maps. A known tactic of heating oil thieves is to use Google Earth / Maps to look for the tank in people's gardens, by placing your tank under a tree or gazebo may help to hide it from such views.
