Farm manager Mr Reed & his Wife took pole position at this year’s Driffield Show after winning a trip to the Lotus F1 factory in Norfolk.
The prize was offered by Rix Petroleum Ltd which exhibited a Lotus Formula One car on its stand to celebrate 65 consecutive years appearing at the show.
It includes a tour of the famous car marque’s UK factory for two, which will take place next month.
Mr Reed said he was ‘chuffed to bits’ to win the prize as he has had a lifelong interest in motor sport.
“You enter these things but you never think you are going to win,” he said.
“So it was totally unexpected when I got a call to say I had. But I was delighted, I’m looking forward to the trip because I enjoy watching motor racing on the TV and it is a once in a lifetime event.”
Mr Reed, who is a farm manager , said he hadn’t missed a Driffield Show for more years than he could remember, and his father, John Reed, used to help organise the event.
He said 2012 had been an excellent year, particularly Rix’s stall because of the Lotus car and the Q8 motorbike and sidecar on display.
Duncan Lambert, director at Rix, said he was pleased the prize had been won by a motor sport fan.
Mr Lambert said: “I’d like to congratulate Julian on winning the prize, I’m sure he’ll have a fantastic day out at the factory.”
This year Rix Petroleum exhibited at Driffield Show for the 65th consecutive year. The company won the prize for best exhibition stand 2012 for the first time in its history.
