It has been reported that Heating Oil is one of the cheapest forms of heating fuels. At Rix we care, that’s why we’ve put together a few tips that could save you even more money this winter.

Turn it down

It might sound too good to be true, but turning your thermostat down just 1° could save you up to 10% off your annual fuel bills.

Get it serviced

We recommend getting your boiler serviced every 12 months to ensure that it’s working efficiently and to avoid any breakdowns that may occur during the colder weather.  It’s important to make sure any servicing or repairs are made by a fully qualified OFTEC engineer. A regular service could also lower emissions and minimise the risk of Carbon Monoxide.

Try something new

Having a change from your regular heating oil could also show improvements in the performance and efficiency of your boiler. K+ Heating Oil is premium heating oil, suitable for all types of oil fired boilers.  As a result of research and development by Fuel Additive Science Technologies Limited, this new fuel will help to lower your energy costs by maintaining boiler efficiency. K+ heating oil combines a number of active ingredients to tackle problems such as excessive carbon residue and sludge build-up to give your oil boiler a better burn.

Wrap up your home

By adding just 270mm of loft insulation you could look to save not only £180 a year, but also 730kg of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. What’s more is the fact that it takes as little as two years to pay for itself. Cavity wall insulation is a brilliant way of keeping the energy within your home and saving the build-up of condensation in your home with an annual saving of up to £140.
