Thetford Forest is the largest lowland pine forest in Britain. It covers over 19,000ha of land classified as Site of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI).
A great place to start your day in the forest is High Lodge where you will find parking, toilets, forest information and a cafe. There are miles of walking and cycling trails that start from here and you can even hire a BBQ to take with you.
There’s plenty to do for the kids as well with an adventure play area, kids trail and kids cycle course. There is also a Go Ape with a junior tree top adventure and Forest Segway.
Other attractions in the forest include the Thetford Priory ruins and Thetford Warren, a rare 15th century stone lodge ruin that was built to accommodate the gamekeeper and hunting parties. A festival - Forest Live – is also held each summer by the Forestry Commission to raise awareness and funds for our forests.
