Rix Petroleum delivers 500 litres of heating oil to Northumberland competition winner

Wooler resident Brian Thompson will receive an early Christmas gift this year thanks to Rix Petroleum Ltd and the Northumberland Gazette.

Mr Thompson was the lucky winner of 500 litres of heating oil worth around £300 from the Alnwick based company in a competition run through the newspaper.

He took delivery of the oil this week, ensuring he will be warm and cosy for winter.

Mr Thompson said he hardly ever won competitions and never thought about the competition after he entered it.

He said: “It was brilliant when I was called to say I’d won. I never expected to win, I never even gave it a second thought. I don’t even win in raffles usually, but I thought, why not?”

“Although the price of oil is down at the moment, heating your home is still a big expense, so winning this fuel is a real bonus.” he said.

Tim Claxton, Manager of Rix Petroleum North East, congratulated Mr Thompson on his win.

He said: “We like to bring some festive cheer to the season by giving people the opportunity to win 500 litres of fuel, delivered free to their door. After all, it’s a good feeling to know you are fully prepared for all the British weather can throw at you.

“It was a great pleasure to deliver to Brian and I’m delighted he was the lucky and deserving winner. I hope it helps him and his family stay warm until the better weather is upon us.”
