Rix Petroleum is a household name among the East Yorkshire farming families who have worked with us over the many years we have been supplying Heating oil, Gas Oil and Diesel throughout the region.
It has been a labour of love as we have made friends in all parts of the county, and played our small part in helping East Yorkshire become one of the UK’s top food producing regions.
And it is with that in mind we wanted to give a little back to the community that has supported us down the years. To do that, we decided to help Driffield Agricultural Society realise its dream of creating a truly first class conference and leisure venue on the town’s historic show ground.
So it is with immense pride that we can announce the Rix Pavilion is now open for business.
The £400,000, 350 seat conference venue saw its official opening ceremony on March 25, with the ribbon-cutting duties being carried out by Lord Lieutenant of East Yorkshire, the Hon Susan Cunliffe Lister.
It was witnessed by an audience of more than 200 members of the Driffield Agricultural Society who then sat down to enjoy a wonderful, three course meal cooked in the pavilion’s newly fitted kitchens.
We chose this project because to us Driffield has long been a meeting place for the region’s farmers. None more so than at its annual agricultural show which we will attend this year for our 68th year in succession.
Driffield, the show, and the people who gather there are part of the fabric of East Yorkshire and of Rix Petroleum, and we wanted to show our appreciation by helping create this wonderful facility.
Speaking on the day of the opening, David Tite, Chief Executive Officer of the Driffield Agricultural Society, said: “The impact of having this size and quality of facility on the Showground is immense and everyone involved with the Society is excited to be part of this unique project.”
He is entirely right, we share his excitement. The Rix Pavilion will help bring all manner of events and performances to Driffield and help entertain, inspire and teach the next generations farmers and non-farmers alike, and will help ensure the Agricultural Society and the show continue a long way into the future.
