Rix Petroleum donates heating oil to help flooded farms

We are sure that you’ll have seen the utter devastation that the recent floods have caused within the last few weeks.

Storms Desmond and Eva flooded more than 16000 homes throughout the UK and even destroyed bridges, rail tracks and historical roads. The situation was equally grim for more rural areas with farms reporting flooded farmland, power cuts and livestock casualties.

Supporting the Weighton Wolds Rotary Club in Market Weighton, Rix Petroleum donated 500 litres of Heating Oil to their charity night, raising money for flooded farms in Yorkshire and Cumbria.

The lucky winner of the auction was David Cox, who very generously bid to win this oil, and in doing so, helped some of the farms that have had machinery and property damaged during the storms.

The evening was well attended by the local community who enjoyed a Pie and Pea supper, and raised a fantastic £7700 to help towards the clean-up operation of agricultural land.

Here is Mr Cox receiving his Heating Oil from one of Rix Petroleum’s sales executives, Chris Hepworth.
