Rix Petroleum agrees year-long partnership with Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance

Leading family fuel supplier Rix Petroleum Ltd is flying high with its latest charity tie up.

The company has formed a year-long partnership with the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance service and aims to raise thousands of pounds for the charity.

Under the agreement, Rix Petroleum will proudly display the ambulance’s branding on the back of selected tankers which makes regular deliveries across the two counties.

The company’s name will also appear on the ambucopter itself in the form of a bespoke tail wrap as part of their 25th anniversary In Safe Hands Campaign.

Rix Petroleum supplies domestic heating oil and commercial diesel to homes, farms and businesses in the East Midlands from depots across Lincolnshire, along with agricultural lubricants, heating services, boilers and tanks.

As well as the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, the company supports air ambulance services in Yorkshire and the West Midlands.

Duncan Lambert, Managing Director of Rix Petroleum Ltd, described Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance as a ‘truly worthy cause’, adding he was delighted to be partnering with the charity.

He said: “Rix Petroleum has been serving farms, rural businesses and rural communities for almost 100 years, so we know that living and working in the most remote areas of the country can be very hazardous.

“This is why the air ambulance services are so vital to the communities we serve.

“They are equipped to get to remote areas faster than any other form of emergency transport and by doing so, save lives on a regular basis.

“The crews do fantastic work in what are often difficult conditions, helping to look after and protect the communities we support, which is why we’re delighted to support them.”

The company will be running a comprehensive programme of fundraising events over the next 12 months and is encouraging all of its employees to get involved.

Activities will range from physical challenges such as bike rides, runs and walks to fun packed events like It’s a Knockout, competitions, dress down days and raffles.

Customers will also be able to donate to their local air ambulance service via the Rix Petroleum website.

Tanya Taylor, Corporate Fundraiser at the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, said: “We are incredibly grateful to be working with Rix Petroleum.

“With their support, not only will this help to raise awareness of the lifesaving work we do at the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, but it will also help to raise funds for our vital service.

“As a charity, we receive no direct Government funding, so every penny really does make a difference and helps us to save even more lives every single day of the year.

“We quite literally could not provide our vital emergency medical service without the help and continued support we receive from our local communities.”

Supporting Chatton Church’s Charity Challenge

 June 12, 2013

When was the last time you went to church? A wedding? Funeral? Christening?

OK, so we might not turn out every Sunday like our forefathers did, but churches can lend a welcome air of gravitas to life’s more important events.

And they remain among the best loved buildings in the UK, particularly in the countryside – rural churches are an integral part of the charm and character of a traditional British village, attracting not just committed worshippers but tourists and passing walkers, and even film crews on occasion.

They retain a community importance too, as the location for a village fete, coffee morning or for that all important bring-and-buy sale.

Yes, it is essential we look after our churches.

Holy Cross Church in Chatton, Northumberland, is looking to raise £100,000 for essential maintenance work and via our NE depot, at Rashercap in Felton, we are supporting the effort.

Rix Petroleum is sponsoring a flower festival to be held on June 28th – 30th at the church, which will feature a host of entertainments including a hog roast, local musicians and on Sunday, a Caribbean steel band.

It is shaping up to be a lively and fun day with something for everyone and the church at the centre of the celebrations.

So if you’re in the area why not pop along, soak up the atmosphere and learn about the vital work going on. As well as having a grand day out you’ll be playing your part in ensuring this ancient building continues to serve the people of Chatton for hundreds more years to come.

Rix take part in Britains Biggest Breakfast

 March 11, 2016

We have recently taken part in the annual breakfast event for Cancer Research UK.

On Friday 11th March we invited all the Rix team to come together for a shared breakfast in our HQ in Hull.

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day so the team really enjoyed a hearty breakfast and taking part in some fun games and quizzes to raise money for this great charity.

Rix Petroleum joined forces with 5 local companies who very kindly donated breakfast items and gift vouchers to support this event and Cancer Research UK.

Cooplands bakery (Hull) – Provided freshly baked Danish pastries and bread, which were gratefully received by the team.

Tesco (York) – Generously provided some competition prizes, crumpets and fruit.

Jacksons bakery (Hull) – We collected various different styles of bread, perfect for toast and jam.

Sainsbury’s (Jamison street, Hull) – Donated porridge, coffee, muffins and breakfast bars.

Murdens soft drink and snack foods (Hull, 01482 836638) – Kindly donated fresh orange to accompany our breakfast treats.

The money we raise throughout 2016 will go to Cancer Research UK’s clinical centre based at St James hospital in Leeds. Working in partnership with the NHS and Leeds University they draw together world class research and areas of medical expertise to provide the best possible results for cancer patients nationwide.

We think that local companies, working together, to raise money for a local hospital is fantastic. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU for their support.

More information about Cancer Reasearch UK and the amazing work they do can be found on their website.

Rix Petroleum East Anglia continue to support local charities

August 24, 2016

This summer our East Anglia depot is continuing to work with and support a fantastic local charity, East Coast Truckers.

The charities trailer will be transported on the back of a Rix artic, visiting fairs, carnivals and events to help raise money for underprivileged children across East Anglia.

East Coast Truckers is best known for the annual Children’s Convoy that takes place on the Bank holiday Sunday in August and is now a major tourist attraction in East Anglia. A convoy of around 80 trucks with its special cargo of one child per cab leaves County Hall, Norwich and travels to Pleasurewood Hills for hours of fun and entertainment. Later on in the afternoon, the convoy moves on to Great Yarmouth for a Grand Parade along the seafront before returning to Norwich.

More information on the East Coast Truckers can be found on their website.

Rix Petroleum enjoyed lunch in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

 August 10, 2016

Who doesn’t love a buffet? The teams at Rix Petroleum’s HQ have joined together to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support by buying or baking some delicious treats for our charity lunch event.

We were kindly supported by our local Sainsbury’s store (Jameson Street, Hull) who donated a selection of sandwiches that were enjoyed by all.

The staff really got behind this fundraising lunch and made an array of dishes including, spring rolls, goats cheese tarts, sausage rolls, salads, flatbreads and some amazing deserts.

Macmillan’s ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same.

There are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and as more people live longer with their cancer, this number is set to grow to 4 million by 2030. Macmillan wants to make sure they can provide support to everyone who needs it, to help people affected by cancer feel more in control of their lives.

Each year the J R Rix & Sons group of companies choose a national charity to support and raise money for and are very proud to be working with Macmillan during 2016. We have lots more exciting events lined up for the coming months, so watch this space.
