Celebrating 10 years of working with the Green Pea Company
This year marks the 10th year that Rix Petroleum has been working with local Farming co-operative, The Green Pea Company.
With 240 members growing peas throughout East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire, The Green Pea Company supply Birds Eye’s dedicated freezing operation at Hull. The plant at Hull represents the largest majority of Birds Eye’s UK pea production.
Rix Petroleum supplies the Farming Co-operative with Gas Oil, AdBlue, and much of the lubricants they use in their machinery. The Green Pea Company has entrusted Rix Petroleum with its fuel supplies for a decade because we have proved to be able to supply on time, at short notice and at the right price.
Operations manager Gary Creaser said despite being a big company, Rix’s customer service is second-to-none.
“They know the job inside and out,” says Gary.
“We farm 25,000 acres in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and can be anywhere on that patch. We might arrange for a fuel delivery at a particular farm but when we get there we find the conditions aren’t right, so we move somewhere else. That means changing the location of the delivery at a moment’s notice which can be challenging for a fuel supplier, but Rix has always accommodated that.”
Rix’s forward buying facility enables the Green Pea Company to fix the fuel price at the point of purchase, helping them with financial planning, and Rix stores the fuel until it is needed, which complements the company’s business model well.
Duncan Lambert, director of Rix Petroleum, said
“Over the years they have become more like friends than customers and that makes the working relationship special. We always try to give them the best possible service – they know they can get hold of us 24/7 if they need to – and they repay us with their loyalty.”
On Tuesday 7th June, The Green Pea Company is celebrating 10 years in business with a get together of members, suppliers, friends and family. Rix will be helping the celebrations by attending the event and we are really excited to be taking an F1 simulator, courtesy of Total Lubricants. See if you can get the fastest time on the day and a chance to win a bottle of champagne.
