Which heating oil do I need?

Some domestic boilers use gas oil. However the vast majority of oil-fired boilers and cookers are fuelled by kerosene, which is also known as home heating oil, heating oil and burning oil. If you are unsure which type of oil your heating system or range uses, your local depot will be happy to help.

Do I need to know anything before ordering?

It would be helpful if you know the capacity of your heating oil tank. You can work this out by taking the measurements of a metal tank or by locating the model number on a plastic tank. Otherwise, simply call us and one of our helpful depot staff will be happy to work out the details for you.

You should make sure that a qualified engineer has recently serviced your boiler and tank. If any maintenance is required, we can arrange for one of our engineers to visit before ordering your oil.

Does the quantity I order influence the price?

Larger quantities are cheaper to purchase per litre. Ordering 500 litres at a time puts the cost up for you and for us. Rix can offer you the option to order a larger quantity and, if you are on our flexible, monthly payment scheme, you can spread the cost of the fuel you will use over the year.

How can do I pay you for my oil delivery?

When you are an established customer you can simply open up a monthly payment scheme and pay by direct debit. Alternatively you can pay online by Switch, Visa or Mastercard or over the phone by Switch, Visa or Mastercard.

K+ Fuel - For a Better Burning Boiler (heating oil)

K+ is a new fuel that improves boiler performance and efficiency. As a result of rigorous research, development and extensive field-testing, this new fuel will lower your energy costs by maintaining boiler efficiency. This can lead to savings of up to £100 per annum in a medium-sized household.

What does it do?

When heating oil burns it can leave carbon residue on your boiler that affects performance. Sludge builds-up in your tank too, leading to problems with the fuel injectors. K+ combines a number of active ingredients to tackle these problems and give your boiler a better burn.
