Rix is proud to be the only company in the last ten years to build new barges to carry fuel on the inland waterways.

This helps reduce road congestion significantly by saving 10,000 truck movements every year.

 

Health and Safety Management Systems Manual

Introduction
Every year people are killed or injured or suffer ill health because of their work. The Group intend to make every effort to prevent accidents and ill health to our employees and any other person who may be affected through our work operation. The Group recognises that good health and safety management enables us to:

  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees, customers, visitors and others who may be affected by our business
  • Reduce the number of accidents and incidences of ill health
  • Comply with legislation
  • Meet insurers requirements
  • Work more efficiently, and
  • Protect our good reputation

This health and safety policy has been produced to help us achieve this aim. By implementing effective management principles for health and safety including safe working procedures and monitoring, we will endeavour to provide safe working conditions without risk to health, for all concerned.
This policy document details the health and safety arrangements specifically for Rix Petroleum and forms part of the overall Group Health and Safety Management System.
This policy document contains

  1. the Division’s health and safety policy statement demonstrating a commitment to health and safety at the most Senior Management level,
  2. the Organisation for health and safety and responsibilities for all levels of staff, to ensure that everyone is aware of the duties that they hold to create and maintain a healthy and safe working environment, and
  3. general arrangements across the Division. These arrangements are supported with policies and procedures and describe how health and safety is to be managed and implemented.

The Group Health and Safety policy plus the divisional ones will collectively be know as the Group Health and Safety Management System.
This Divisional health and safety policy will be revised as necessary and brought to the attention of our employees.

Divisional Health and Safety Statement

This Policy Statement supports the Groups Policy Statement.
It is our Divisions policy to ensure all possible steps are taken to ensure the health and safety of all persons who may be affected by our activities. In order to achieve this the Division will:

  • Provide a healthy and safe working environment for its employees
  • Provide equipment that is suitable and without risks for use at work
  • Provide training, instruction, information and supervision to our employees to enable them to carry out their job competently
  • Seek to communicate effectivly on all issues concerning health and safety
  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the policy, the methods and systems and by a process of constant improvement, will seek to maintain high standards of health and safety
  • Review the policy as necessary and at the very least, on an annual basis
  • Liaise with and obtain health and safety advice from our internal and external health and safety advisors

The division recognises that the effective implementation of this policy depends on the cooperative effort of all employees.
